The battle of New York ends in overtime

In the battle between the New York teams, the Giants were trying to snap their two-game losing streak, and the Jets remain fighting for a wild card spot.  The Giants were up 20-10 going into halftime.  Giving the Giants history this season that is not nearly enough.  With a fourth down and two yards to go inside the Jets five-yard line, the Giants decide to go for it, and pass on the opportunity for three points.  Eli throws and is intercepted by Rontez Miles, and the Giants fail to convert.  The Jets then answer with 10 fourth quarter points and tie the game at 20-20 forcing overtime.  In overtime the Jets won the toss and elected to receive.  The Jets put up a field goal to take the lead 23-20, because they did not score a touchdown they had to kickoff.  The Giants then get the ball and drive down to the Jets 30-yard line.  They fail to convert on third down and are forced to kick a field goal.  The Giant kicker Josh Brown has made 29/29 field goals on the year, and this one from 48 yards away he pulls to the left and it is no good.  The Jets beat the Giants for the first time since 1993, by the score of 23-20.

Giants fail to gain ground in NFC East

With a chance to extend their division lead to two games, the Giants go down in Washington.  Giants were down 17-0 at halftime and that proved to be too much for them to overcome.  Eli had three interceptions in the loss, two that were in the receiver's hands.  The third interception was crucial as it came in the end zone before halftime, taking away a chance for the Giants to be down two scores heading to the third quarter.  The Giants put up 14 points in the fourth quarter but fell short to the Redskins 20-14.  The Giants are now tied for first in the NFC East although the Redskins now own the tiebreaker.

Controversial call keeps Patriots perfect

In what FOX sports calls the best game of the year, the Giants fall one point short of undefeated Patriots.  With a chance to go up eight points on the Giants, Brady was picked off by McBride at the one-yard line with five minutes to go.  Eli and the Giants drive down the field to the New England five-yard line with a chance for the win.  On first and goal Manning throws to Beckham in the end zone for a touchdown, but wait each scoring play is reviewed.  After review the officials rule the catch incomplete and said, "The receiver did not complete the catch."  Beckham had two feet down with possession of the ball in the end zone, but had it knocked away by last years Super Bowl hero, Malcolm Butler.  After an incompletion and a sack, the Giants were forced to kick a field goal with 1:47 left to play.  Brady got the ball back and on the first play threw it deep down field and Landon Collins dropped the ball for an easy game-winning interception.  Instead Brady completes a fourth down pass to Danny Amendola, and sets up Stephen Gotskowski for a potential game-winning 54-yard field goal.  Gotskowski made the field goal with one second left to beat the Giants 27-26, and keeps the Patriots season perfect.

Peyton passes Favre

Peyton broke Favre's all-time record of 71,838 passing yards on Sunday 11/15 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Entering the game Peyton had 71,835 yards, (3 yards shy of Favre) with a 4yd pass to R. Hillman out of the backfield on the second drive of the game the record was his.  Although Peyton holds the most passing yards of all time, the game was ultimately one to forget.  On the first drive of the game Peyton threw his first of four interceptions on the day.  His last interception came halfway through the third quarter before being benched.  Coaches say he was pulled from the game due to a foot injury, which will keep him sidelined for the next game.  Manning finished the day just 5-20 and 30 total yards.  The Chiefs ended up handing Denver their second straight loss by the score 29-13.

Shootout in the Superdome

In the third highest scoring game in NFL history (Super Bowl era), the Giants fall short.  Manning threw for 350 yards and six touchdowns, three of them to Beckham.  The only other touchdown came from safety Trumaine McBride on a pic six to give the Giants a 49-42 lead.  After a Drew Brees touchdown the Giants had 36 seconds to retake the lead.  Giants could not get anything going and punted on fourth down to Marcus Murphy who returned the ball 24 yards to the Giants 47.  Murphy was dragged down by his facemask adding on 15 more yards, giving the Saints an opportunity for a last second 50yd field goal.  With five seconds left kicker Kai Forbath connects to hand the Giants another deflating loss, by the score 52-49.

Giants get revenge

Giants picked up a must needed victory over the Cowboys on Sunday at MetLife.  Giants looking for sweet revenge of the Cowboys, who they had a devastating loss to in week one, took advantage of the Cowboys with their star quarterback Tony Romo and wide-receiver Dez Bryant out with injuries.  With the win and Eagles loss to the Panthers the Giants regain sole possession of first place.  The Giants also handed Dallas their fourth straight loss to hinder their chance at the postseason falling to 2-4.  It was the defense and special teams that got the job done for New York with a pic six from Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, and a 100yd kickoff return by Dwayne Harris, in the 27-20 win.

Deflating loss for the GMEN

After taking sole possession of first place in the division for the first time since 2012, the Giants give it up Sunday night in Philadelphia.  The Sunday night loss vs. division rival Philadelphia Eagles was the Giants worst performance of the year.  Aside from the Giants encouraging opening drive resulting in a touchdown to Odell Beckham Jr. and creating four turnovers there was nothing positive to take away from the game.  The Giants were unable to take advantage of the turnovers and turn them into points.  The defense allowed 158 yards rushing as well as 428 total yards.  Eli also threw for less than 200 yards along with two interceptions in the 27-7 loss.

Manning throws for 441 in Giant win

Facing the one-win San Francisco 49ers Sunday night in MetLife, the Giants needed to come away with a win.  The 49ers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but did not last long.  The giants the evened the score and kept the lead until 1:45 left in the fourth quarter.  Giants fans have seen their team give away two fourth quarter leads this year and did not wan to see a third.  Giants got the ball back with 1:41 left to go and all three timeouts.  Hamstring injuries were keeping Giants top two receivers Beckham and Randle on the sideline during the final drive.  Manning connected with Vereen three times out of the backfield to get the Giants to San Francisco's 20-yard line with 30 seconds and no time outs.  Beckham entering the game for the first time on the drive drew a pass-interference call stopping the clock with 21 seconds at the 49ers 12-yard line.  The next play Eli throws to TE Larry Donnell for the game-winning touchdown leading the Giants to a 30-27 win, putting the Giants in sole possession of first place in the division at 3-2.

Giants get the win despite a quiet day from Beckham

Giants headed into Buffalo looking to bring their record to 2-2.  Giants got out to a hot start leading the Bills at halftime 16-3.  A 51-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to running back Rashad Jennings out of the backfield sealed the deal for the Giants.  Beckham had a season low 38-yards receiving during the win, but it was the Giants defense that prevailed in the win.  The defense played their best game of the season allowing no points in the fourth quarter for the first time this season.  They also added two turnovers and a crucial fourth down stop on their own one-yard line, to lead the Giants to a 24-10 victory.

Giants get in the win column

Thursday night at MetLife stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey, the Giants are able to get their first victory of the season against division rival Washington Redskins.  This time the Giants were able to get out to a 19-point lead during the fourth quarter and went on to win the game 32-21.  Their special teams gave them an early spark with a blocked punt by Rashad Jennings that resulted in a safety and got the Giants out to an early 2-0 lead.  Eli also added a pair of touchdown passes to Odell Beckham Jr. and Ruben Randle in the win Thursday night.  Giants head to Buffalo next week looking to even their record to 2-2.

Back-to-back breakdowns

Giants seeking their first win of the season coming off a heart-breaking loss to Dallas were in the same situation yet again.  Giants were up ten points entering the fourth quarter against the always-dangerous Atlanta Falcon offense.  With a defensive lapse last game in the fourth quarter the Giants were trying to finish this game with a win.  After an early fourth quarter touchdown by Atlanta the Giants held a three-point lead.  New York punted with 3:23 left on the clock, leaving the Falcons a chance for game winning drive.  With 1:14 to go Falcons running back Davonta Freeman punches in a two-yard touchdown.  Eli and the Giants can't complete a game-winning drive and are handed back-to-back losses.

Meltdown in Dallas

The Giants had a ten-point lead with eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter vs. Dallas in their season opener.  Dallas the heavy favorite to win the game had their backs up against the wall.  After a one-yard TD pass from Romo to Witten the lead was cut to three with five minutes left.  New York's next drive resulted in a field goal to extend their lead to six, with a minute 34 to go.  Dallas needing a touchdown had to march 80 yards with no timeouts.  After losing Dez Bryant with a foot injury earlier in the game, Romo found his other favorite target Witten in the end zone with seven seconds to spare for his second touchdown catch of the game.  Dallas adding the extra point went onto win 27-26.
